Fashion Accountants in Dubai: Brands, Boutiques, E-Commerce

Why UAE businesses choose us:

Fashion accountants in Dubai look after seasonal stock and markdowns, VAT on online and in-store sales, exports and tourist refunds, marketplace payouts, and the Corporate Tax treatment of samples and influencer costs. A boutique fits our monthly package (VAT, Corporate Tax and books included), priced by its transaction volume. A multi-channel brand is priced the same way, by its volume. Every package carries Zero Penalty Assurance, in writing.

What do fashion accountants in Dubai do for a brand or boutique?

Fashion is a stock business with a calendar. You buy or produce a season ahead, sell at full price, mark down, then clear what is left. Money comes in through several doors at once: the shop till, your own website, marketplaces, wholesale buyers and maybe pop-ups. An accountant who works with fashion keeps each stream separate enough to read, and keeps the total tied to the bank.

  • Monthly books from the sales reports, supplier invoices and bank statements you send us.
  • Stock valuation and markdown entries at season end.
  • VAT returns each quarter covering retail, online, wholesale and export sales.
  • Marketplace and payment-gateway payouts matched to orders, fees and refunds.
  • Corporate Tax registration and the annual return.

Seasonal stock, markdowns and unsold inventory

A fashion balance sheet is mostly stock, so how you value it drives your profit. Stock is held at cost or at net realisable value if that is lower. When a season ends and you mark items down below cost, the loss belongs in that period’s accounts. If it is left in stock at the original cost, profit is overstated, and so is the Corporate Tax computed on it. We book year-end and seasonal write-downs from your stock count, with the evidence an auditor would ask for.

Discounts affect VAT as well. A sale price reduced at the till means VAT is charged on the reduced price. Supplier rebates and wholesale discounts change the value of earlier supplies. Our post on discounts and rebates shows how the adjustments are made.

What the FTA expects from a fashion business

  • VAT on UAE sales. Standard-rated sales in shops and online to customers in the UAE, with tax invoices for business buyers and simplified invoices at the till.
  • Online and GCC customers. The place of supply and the customer’s status decide the VAT treatment of sales outside the UAE. We check each sales route against the VAT Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 8 of 2017) before you set up the checkout.
  • Exports. Zero-rating needs proof that the goods left the UAE: shipping documents, customs evidence and payment records. See VAT on exports.
  • Tourist refunds. If your shop takes part in the tourist refund scheme, refunds are handled through the scheme operator and recorded against the original sale. Our post on tourist VAT refunds explains the rules.
  • Records. Invoices, credit notes, stock records and marketplace statements kept for the retention period in the law.
  • Corporate Tax. Registration and an annual return under Federal Decree-Law No. 47 of 2022, with proper support for each deduction.

Marketplaces, consignment and payouts

Marketplaces pay you net of commission, shipping and returns. If you book only the payout, your sales and your costs are both understated, and your VAT return may be wrong. We book the gross sale, the fee and the refund separately, so the VAT return shows the true sales figure and the commission is deductible with its own invoice. Consignment stock held by a retailer stays on your books until it is sold. Wholesale buyers who return unsold items need credit notes tied to the original invoice.

Samples, photoshoots and influencer costs under Corporate Tax

Fashion carries its own kinds of cost: free samples, photo shoots, models, influencer collaborations, trade shows. Corporate Tax allows deductions for expenses incurred wholly and exclusively for the business, and the support must be on file. A contract or an agreed brief, an invoice and a payment record are the minimum. Gifted product given to an influencer should be recorded at cost. Entertainment spend has its own restrictions, so we separate it. Items for the owner’s own wardrobe are personal and are not deductible.

What this costs

The price is fixed in advance and set by the number of transactions you post each month, never by the hours we spend, with VAT, Corporate Tax and books included. Groups with two or three companies are quoted on request. Corporate Tax filing for sales under AED 3M is a fixed fee, quoted on request on WhatsApp. We confirm your monthly transaction band with you before we quote.

Why owners in fashion pick a fixed-price firm

Fashion cash flow peaks and dips with the season. An hourly accountant bills most in the weeks when you are busiest, at launches and stock counts. A fixed price smooths that out and keeps the cost out of your buying decisions. Our team is CA-led and we work in Tally in house, or in your own Odoo, Zoho, Xero or QuickBooks if you already run your shop on one.

Zero Penalty Assurance, in writing. Where your data reaches us by the agreed cut-off dates, we assure that no FTA penalty will arise from late or incorrect filing. Should a penalty arise from a mistake in our submission, we bear that fine, and we confirm this assurance to you in writing.

Monthly data reaches us by the 5th, VAT data by the 15th after the period closes, and Corporate Tax data by an agreed date, with automatic reminders ahead of each. Read a retailer’s VAT filing for how steady filing works for a retailer.

Frequently asked questions

Do fashion e-commerce sales to GCC customers carry UAE VAT?

It depends on the place of supply and the customer's status. We check each sales route against the VAT Law before you set up the checkout.

How are unsold seasonal clothes treated in the accounts?

Stock is valued at cost or net realisable value if lower. Items marked down below cost are written down in the period of the markdown.

How much does an accountant for a fashion boutique cost?

One fixed price, agreed in advance and set by your monthly transaction volume, with Zero Penalty Assurance in writing. Send us your approximate monthly transaction count and we reply with the price.

Are influencer and sample costs deductible for Corporate Tax?

They can be when incurred wholly and exclusively for the business and supported by a contract or brief, an invoice and a payment record. Entertainment and personal items are treated separately.

Can you work with Shopify or marketplace payouts?

Yes. We book the gross sale, fees and refunds from the statements you send us so VAT and profit are not understated.
