# The Challenge
"We had just changed our legal form, moved offices, and appointed a new authorised signatory. In the middle of the transition, updating the FTA record simply slipped down the list."
Beta Corp, a UAE company, went through a corporate restructuring that touched its legal form, registered address, and authorised signatory. Under Cabinet Decision 75/2023 (Violation No. 3), any material change to a taxable person’s details must be reported to the FTA within the specified timeframe, and the business missed that window.
Left unresolved, this kind of oversight exposes a company to a penalty of AED 1,000 per case, rising to AED 5,000 for a repeat violation, on top of leaving its tax record inaccurate at exactly the time it needs to be reliable.
# Our Approach
– Change-event checklist — we map every corporate event (legal form change, address move, new signatory, ownership change) to its FTA notification requirement so nothing is left to memory.
– EmaraTax record updates — we handle the actual amendment filings on EmaraTax promptly, within the timeframe the law allows.
– Ongoing compliance calendar — we track each client’s key dates and obligations so notification duties are flagged before they become overdue.
The principle is simple: a company’s tax record should always reflect its true legal and operational status, and keeping it current is treated as a routine compliance task, not an afterthought.
# The Result
Across our client base we have handled this for more than 300 businesses, protecting them from penalties in the region of AED 300,000 by keeping their FTA records updated in line with Cabinet Decision 75/2023.
# The Takeaway
"Restructuring your business is not finished until the FTA record matches it. Treat every legal, address, or signatory change as a compliance step, not paperwork to catch up on later."
